Expanding the Midsweep family
by Phil Coyne on Sep.04, 2009, under General
After last weeks hiatus due to illness, Midsweep will be back tomorrow, albeit in a pre-recorded form.
The team at Rhubarb are undergoing some training, so we’ll be putting out a pre-recorded show instead of the usual live shenanigans.
Now the Summer break for most bands is over, we’re looking for people to come in to the studio and play a few tracks. We’re also going to be stepping up the number of interviews and “outside” broadcasts we do.
As always, we could use some help. If you think you could add something to the team, either as someone behind the scenes or in front of the mic, get in touch.
Changes
by Phil Coyne on Jul.08, 2009, under General
It’s been a few weeks since a Midsweep show and in that time I’ve been making a few changes to not only the way I’m going to approach and produce the show, but also how I separate personal musings and show related stuff.
Personal stuff will now be on philcee.com whilst this site will concerntrate fully on the show. There’s a big announcement coming in the next week or so which will change not only the reach of the show, but also how you can listen and consume it.
All being well I’m hoping to announce these changes when I get another live show underway sometime this week. At the moment that’s going to be Thursday, but I may shoot for a lunchtime slot and as always release as a separate podcast a few hours later.
Exciting times are ahead for Midsweep and I’m looking forward to sharing it with you all. In the meantime, why not become a fan of the show over on Facebook and help spread the word.

Sort of a new show from me, although this one will be syndicated online at http://nervecastradio.com – I present to you episode one of NerveCast Midsweep. A bi-weekly show, I’ll be concentrating on bands from the Midlands, all the way up to the “North” of the UK while John does the South and Dick is let loose up North.
A new bitjobs is on it’s way, even easier now my host has pulled it’s finger out and got the site up and running again. Let me know what you think, if you like
- 13amp – How Do I Fix This (Manchester) http://www.myspace.com/13amp
- Mexicolas – Easy Smile (Birmingham) http://www.myspace.com/mexicolas
- A Band in Ur Head – Heaven’s Fool(Leeds) http://www.garageband.com/artist/abandinurhead

New Project – NerveCast Midsweep
by Phil Coyne on May.02, 2009, under General
Earlier this year I announced I would be getting back in to podcasting again. After a few problems (lack of time etc) I’ve managed to get back in to a fairly regular routine, whether releasing new shows, or digging out some of my favourites from the archives and serving them up for you again.
A few weeks ago I approached John over at NerveCast Radio about producing a regular show for him. He must have liked what he heard, because a within a few days he’d offered me a regular slot on the station.
Starting May 8th, I’ll be producing a bi-weekly show for NerveCast, Midsweep, covering bands from the Midlands (Watford, up to the North of England). This is a massive opportunity for me, as John’s show hits a few hundred thousand listeners.
The rebrand of the show site to Hyprmedia isn’t just a temporary thing, as I go on producing content, it will appear here under the one umbrella.Very much looking forward to this, and I’m sure the bands who get featured will be too.
BFM Gold – The Paisley Riot Interview

No new show for you this week because I’m out and about. I do have a cracker for you from the archives though – this is an interview with (now defunkt) Midlands band Paisley Riot.
We spent a day in the studio with them, recording 10 tracks and then went back to a hotel room to interview them. That day was one of my best since I’ve been podcasting and that really comes across on the show.
Hope you like it, see you next week.

Podcast Today
by Phil Coyne on Apr.02, 2009, under General
So in the interests of keeping the show semi-regular, I’m going to record a show today.
I’ve had a lot of interest since I decided to get back on the wagon, so to speak, but am still trying to be as active as I can in regaining the audience that we’ve lost of the years.
I’ll be recording some time today, so if you have any last minute audio/comments, send them through.

Back to the good old days
by Phil Coyne on Mar.15, 2009, under General
Over the past few days I’ve been playing around with a few bits of AV that I think have made me realise that PCDC isn’t the way forward for me. It’s time to wheel out the old dinosaur that is bitjobs for the masses! and bring it back for good.
It might just be a coincidence, but it’s exactly four years tomorrow since I first started podcasting with a mammoth 90 minute show (!). Thankfully as the shows increased in numbers, the length went down to a more manageable 30-45 minutes per show.
I’m not expecting to return to the glory days of loads of show related emails, but it will be good to use the followers I have on Twitter to get the shows heard and shared with others. BFM Daily was one of the most popular incarnations of the show; 15 minutes of independent music, minimal chatter and released everyday. It took a hell of a lot to get a show out everyday, but it was damn fun and they were some of the best shows I’ve produced.
So, here we go. It’s going to be slow to start with, but I will be devoting as much time as I can in between work and spending time with the kids and, with a bit of luck we’ll get back to the good old days of regular shows, a large-ish audience and a lot of quality music.

Back again with another podcast, I’m finally getting in to a routine! Tracks today from;
I’m going through another developmental phase here and might even commit to getting something out regular again. As always, thoughts and comments are encouraged as I need to know what you lovely people think about the shows – are they headed in the right direction? Anything you’d like to hear in the future?
Easiest way to comment is below this very post, otherwise you can email me – phil(dot)coyne(at)gmail.com or find me on Twitter.
Hope you enjoy the show and see you tonight at BrumTwestival if you’re going.
PCDC #2 – Feb 2009
by Phil Coyne on Feb.03, 2009, under General
PCDC returns for it’s first show of 2009 with two tracks each from Stoney and Chance. I talk briefly about me missing podcasting, twitter and a rant about wanting to change my career.
Subscribe to the feed to get future shows as they are released.
PCDC #1 – The Return
by Phil Coyne on Nov.11, 2008, under General
I said it wouldn’t be long before I managed to get a new podcast out did I? It’s a bit of an introduction this time round, with a bit of a mind dump and three great music tracks to finish it all off. More to come in the future, but as always let me know what you think.
Make sure you check out the artists that I’ve played on today’s show and let them know where you heard them.
